MoDOT plans to open new Champ Clark Bridge by November 2019

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) plans to have a new Champ Clark Bridge open to traffic by Nov. 1, 2019, the Hannibal-Courier Post reports.

“While the timeline is tentative, one of the advantages to using a design-build process to procure and construct a major bridge is the reduction of time when compared with traditional design methods,” Champ Clark Bridge project director Keith Killen told the news agency.

Killen and his project team have identified all the goals for the project and will use them to make decisions throughout the procurement and contract execution.

“We are gathering survey data and other preliminary information to prepare for the procurement process,” Killen told reporters. “We are releasing some information for the design-build teams, and they can request access to this information by emailing Deputy Project Director Brandi Baldwin at [email protected].”

MoDOT wants to keep residents and people who use the bridge up to date on the project. “The list of project goals and the tentative schedule are available at www.champclarkbridge.com under the New Bridge Design tab.” Killen told the news agency, adding that anyone who is interested in the project can subscribe to email and text alerts at www6.modot.mo.gov/eMoDOTWeb/jsp/signon/signon.jsp.
