MaxLite’s Merak LED Tunnel Lights are capable of replacing 175-watt to 1,000-watt high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps and are said to provide energy savings of up to 70 percent. The LEDs have an 118,000-hour L70 lifetime.

Available in a wide range of wattages that reach up to 300W, the LED fixture was specifically designed for tunnel and underpass lighting applications that require a quality fixture capable of delivering the high lumens to meet RP-22-11, the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America’s tunnel lighting standard.

The largest model delivers in excess of 27,000 lumens, and all fixtures exceed 90 lumens per watt. Light is distributed in a specialized combination of symmetrical and asymmetrical patterns that reduce glare and improve visibility and eye comfort for motorists moving at high speeds.

The lights are constructed with a shock- and vibration-resistant aluminum body that operates as a built-in chimney for heat dissipation and efficient thermal management. They are designed to operate in a wide temperature and humidity range and are suitable for use in tunnels, underpasses, covered car parks and other public and industrial area applications.

The fixtures include a 10Kv surge protector to ensure fixture longevity and eliminate downtime caused by storms or lightning strikes: the LED light source turns on instantly following a power outage.
