Maryland highway crews repair potholes following rain, snow storms

Pothole RepairMaryland highway crews, like those in other states, are working to repair potholes that formed after recent rain and snow storms.

The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) announced that crews are repairing the potholes weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

SHA Administrator Melinda B. Peters explains that the recent snow storms likely contributed to the formation of potholes on Maryland roads.

“Potholes are a normal result of the freeze and thaw cycle, so we are seeing more thanks to the numerous storms this year,” Peters says. “Once potholes are reported, crews will respond within one business day to repair the pavement.”

Peters notes that drivers can report potholes through SHA’s Customer Care Management System. She also reminds drivers to slow down or move over when they encounter highway construction and maintenance crews.
