Liebherr breaks ground on Florida sales, service center

Equipment manufacturer Liebherr Group and Miami-based Maco Group Construction broke ground Monday on a new sales, service, parts and warehouse distribution center in Hialeah Gardens, according to the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel.

The partnership’s new venture will eventually create 80 to 120 jobs, says the newspaper.

The 40,000-square-foot distribution center will serve as a major hub for Liebherr for its heavy crane and machinery business to Latin America and the Caribbean.

Liebherr plans to begin manufacture of its construction equipment in the United States by 2013, said company president Lena Hogue at the ground-breaking. The company has committed more than $90 million in U.S. investments, she said.
