Komatsu America’s new Tier 4 Final PC390LC-11 hydraulic excavator, which features a SAA6D114E-6 engine that delivers 257 net horsepower, has one size class larger undercarriage components than the previous model, ensuring high lift capacity and lateral stability.
With a 6-percent wider track gauge and 18 percent greater over-the-side lift capacity than the PC360LC-11, the PC390LC-11 has improved productivity that provides a lower cost per ton.
The excavator’s operating weight ranges between 87,388 and 89,248 pounds, and features an enhanced power mode to boost productivity.
Cab improvements include a reinforced box structure framework, and the cab is mounted on viscous isolation dampers for low vibration levels. The standard heated air suspension high back seat has fully adjustable armrests. Additional cab features include an AM/FM stereo radio, remote located auxiliary input and two 12-volt power ports.
A high-resolution monitor supports 33 languages, allows the operator to select from six working modes, supplies fluid level and other usage information and features a display interface that combines vehicle information with a wide landscape view from the standard rear camera.
Equipped with KOMTRAX technology, the machine relays data such as fuel levels, DEF levels, operating hours, location, cautions and maintenance alerts, and a new operator identification system reports operating information on multiple operators. An auto-idle shutdown function reduces idle time for lower operating costs.
The PC390LC-11’s Selective Catalyst Reduction system has an advanced electronic control system to manage functions such as airflow rate, fuel injection and after treatment, and the variable geometry turbocharger and exhaust gas recirculation valve controls air management and maintains a precise temperature, extending component life. The integrated component design uses a closed center load sensing hydraulic system with an enhanced power mode for reduced cycle times.
Serviceability is made simple via handrails located on both sides of the upper structure, as well as side-by-side radiator and hydraulic oil coolers that are easily reachable.
The 10.3-gallon refill capacity DEF tank is housed in a lockable compartment located behind the right side toolbox, and allows for a 2:1 diesel to DEF fill ratio. Equipped with Komatsu’s Equipment Management Monitoring System, the machine has standard Komatsu CARE, which provides factory maintenance for the first 3 years or 2,000 hours.
