With a tight tail-swing radius, redesigned cab and better fuel efficiency, Komatsu has launched a new excavator designed with homebuilders, utility contractors and anyone working on urban or otherwise confined jobsites.
Beyond dropping fuel usage by 5 percent, Komatsu says the engine upgrade has resulted in a 3-percent increase in productivity,
The engine doesn’t employ a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst for after treatment and does not require a diesel particulate filter (DPF) or diesel exhaust fluid (DEF). An exhaust recirculation system reduces NOx emissions.
Inside the ROPS certified, reinforced cab, operators will find a host of new features including:
- High-resolution LCD screen with ecology-guidance data to assist the operator
- Rearview monitoring system with camera
- Auxiliary jack for digital devices and two 12-volt outlets
- Secondary engine shutdown switch
- In-cab-monitor control of up to 10 attachments
The machine also features a new side-by-side radiator and oil cooler for simplified cleaning. The machine’s major maintenance points are all ground-level accessible from either the engine hood, right-side hood or side-service doors, as seen in the photo to the right.
Komatsu says whether the excavator is rented, leased or purchased it’s covered by their CARE program for the first three years or 2,000 hours of operation.
