Kansas DOT’s WICHway begins text and email traffic alert service

Whic Hway

The Kansas Department of Transportation’s (KDOT) WICHway intelligent transportation system for Wichita’s highways is now offering texts and/or emails on traffic alerts from the system’s traffic management center.

KDOT says alerts are created when a significant disruption, such as a major crash or closure, occurs on a Wichita highway.

WICHway collects and shares data from 55 roadside cameras and 63 traffic censors, with messages displayed on 25 electronic signs and the WICHway.org website in addition to the new text and email service.

The Wichita WICHway Alerts are available by creating an account on My Kansas 511 here.
