John Deere has named Max A. Guinn as the next president of its Worldwide Construction & Forestry equipment division.

Guinn, who is currently the senior vice president of human relations, communications, public affairs and labor relations at Deere, was also named president of the company’s Labor Relations and Security division.

The move comes as part of a larger transition in leadership at the company due to the retirement of James A. Israel, president of John Deere Financial. Current Construction & Forestry president Michael J. Mack Jr. has been tapped to become the president of the financial group as well as Global Human Resources and Public Affairs.

Israel was with Deere for 35 years and held a number of management positions. He was appointed president of financial services in 2006 and the company credits his leadership in doubling the size of its credit portfolio to approximately $40 billion.

“Over the course of his career, Jim Israel has shown a keen business intellect, dedication and commitment to employees, and a passion for excellent customer service and business leadership,” Samuel R. Allen, Deere chairman and chief executive officer, said in a prepared statement.
