1050KJohn Deere’s two largest dozers have been recognized for their design by one of the world’s foremost authorities.
The 850K and 1050K took home a 2016 Red Dot, awarded by a jury of independent design specialists hailing from 41 countries.
“We are incredibly humbled to receive such prestigious recognition from these experts in the industrial design industry,” said Doug Meyer, Deere’s global director for construction engineering. “The award underscores the hard work of the John Deere team and our partners to deliver strong, durable machinery that helps our customers achieve outstanding results.”

With the design of both machines, Deere says its engineers strove to create a “consistent aesthetic” across the dozer lineup. The company worked with BMW Group subsidiary Designworks and prioritized customer input throughout the process to do just that.
K Series dozers, including the 152-net-horsepower 850K and 260-net-hp 1050k feature a redesigned cab that is quieter and more comfortable than previous models. With the latest designs, Deere placed emphasis on improving visibility to the blade, sides and rear of the machines.
