Iowa Department of Transportation director Paul Trombino has resigned from his position to “pursue opportunities outside of state government,” according to Andrea Henry with the agency’s Office of Strategic Communications.

His last day is reported to be November 28.

Trombino was appointed Iowa DOT director in May 2011 and had previously served at the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) for 17 years.

While at WisDOT, he worked as director of the bureau of transit, local roads, rails and harbors; regional operations director of the highway division; director of the statewide structures; and manager of highway bid lettings.
