Hyundai adds R55-9A and R55W-9A mini excavators to 9A series

Hyundai Construction Equipment has introduced two new mini excavators to its 9A series product line: R55-9A and R55W-9A.

The new mini excavator feature a number of improvements over their predecessors, including a certified Tier 4 Final engine upgrade, improved hydraulics, increased operator comfort and added durability.

Both machines are powered by a 65.1-horsepower Tier 4 Final Yanmar 4TNV98C engine.

The R55-9A boasts an operating weight of 12,460 pounds and a dig depth of 12 feet, 6 inches, while the R55W-9A has a 12,240-pound operating weight and an 11-foot, 6-inch dig depth. Both models have a digging force of 8,490 foot-pounds and a bucket capacity of .24 cubic yards.

The R55-9A is a track model with standard steel tracks and optional rubber tracks, while the R55W-9A is offered as a wheeled model.

Both models feature an advanced hydraulic system with an arm flow summation system, boom holding system and a swing parking brake; a hydraulic damper in the travel pedal; a hydraulically lubricated swing reducer with a leak-free grease chamber; precision-designed variable volume piston pumps; and fine-touch pilot controls.

Among improvement over previous models are improved pump flow control to minimize fuel consumption, improved spool valves for precise flow to each function with less effort, enhanced hydraulic valves and travel functions, and improved boom-down flow regeneration and control valve technology.

Each low-stress, high strength steel cab includes an operator comfort features such as an ergonomically designed suspension seat with adjustable arm rests, as well as ergonomically designed joysticks. Visibility is increased with the cab’s large upper roof glass and a roller shade to reduce glare.

Other cab features include easily-accessible control levers; an instrument display that shows important machine information; an audio system with AM/FM stereo, a USB player and a remote control; a hands-free cell phone function; and an LCD display that allows to operator to select personal machine preferences and monitor crucial machine data. The LCD display offers button selections for auto idle, max power and travel speed modes.

The machines also include a security feature that prevents the machine from starting without a proper password.

Counterweight rear guards protect the engine hood on each excavator, while a boom cylinder cover provides additional protection.

Long life hydraulic filters, hydraulic oil, shims and bushings are also included.
