Hyundai Construction Equipment has launched two new production-class crawler excavators, the R480LC-9A and R520LC-9A, featuring 108,420-pound and 114,820-pound operating weights, respectively.

The Tier 4 interim excavators are powered by a low emission, low noise Cummins QSX11.9 engine, and feature a high power-to-weight ratio and rapid torque rise.

Features include a variable speed fan clutch, two-stage auto decel system and three engine modes – power, standard and economy. The new hydraulic system delivers fine touch and improved control.

The cabs have a high strength steel frame with slim tubing that when combined with a skylight and larger windows provides optimum visibility. The safety glass will not scratch or fade. The cabs are customizable with adjustable seat, console and armrest, and the seat is integrated with the console for reduced operator fatigue.

Ergonomic joysticks in the cab are height adjustable. Additional features include an advanced audio system with USB, AM/FM stereo and MP3, an enhanced climate control system and heated seats. A smart key system is available as an option.

The excavators’ display cluster has easy-to-read digital gauges for temp, fuel and maintenance item monitoring, and the operator can easily adjust work modes and engine power or set the boom speed and arm regeneration.

Maintenance is simplified with extended lube intervals of 250 hours, 5,000-hour long life hydraulic oil and 1,000-hour extended life hydraulic filters.
