Hyundai CE intros six 9A Series compact excavators with redesigned hydraulics (PHOTOS)

Updated Oct 9, 2015

Featuring a redesigned hydraulic system and new cabs, Hyundai Construction Equipment has launched its new 9A Series lineup of compact excavators.

First unveiled at a press event at the company’s North American headquarters near Atlanta, the lineup consists of one midi excavator in the R80CR-9A and five mini excavators, the R17Z-9A, R25Z-9A, R35Z-9A, R55-9A and R60CR-9A.

The R17Z-9A and R25Z-9A are powered by Kubota engines, while the R35Z-9A, R55-9A, R60CR-9A and R80CR-9A are powered by Yanmar engines.

To improve control, Hyundai engineers redesigned the machines’ hydraulic system, now providing operators with “super-fine touch.” Meanwhile, an arm flow summation system provides energy savings, reduced cavitation and increased speed.

Useful on congested jobsites, the machines feature a boom swing function and the boom can be offset left or right. Plus, the R17Z-9A, R25Z-9A and R35Z-9A are zero-tail-swing machines. And the R17Z-9A has the added benefit of a variable undercarriage, allowing width adjustments between 3 feet, 3 inches and 4 feet, 3 inches wide to squeeze into especially tight spaces.

The TOPS-, ROPS- and FOPS-certified cabs on the new machines are improved as well with more room and, on enclosed models, less noise.

Cab entry is made easier thanks to a tilting left-side console and a new adjustable suspension seat provides all-day comfort.

On the R25Z-9A and R35Z-9A models, a lever pattern change valve is an available option and allows joystick control to be changed from SAE to ISO pattern.

The R55-9A, R60CR-9A and R80CR-9A feature a more beefed up LCD control cluster offering easy access to machine preferences and diagnostics like engine rpm, oil levels, water temperature and onboard electronic device status. the operator to select other machine preferences. Buttons are provided on the cluster for auto idle mode, max power mode and travel speed.

Optional safety features include boom and arm cylinder locks, and an overload alarm.

Serviceability enhancements to the machines include wide-open engine hoods, centralized grease fittings and easy-change plastic air cleaners. The R60CR-9A and R80CR-9A models feature a tilting cabin for convenient maintenance and service.
