Sometimes the first time’s the charm. The Fluid Power Safety Institute’s  first hydraulic safety DVD, “The Lethal Strike” came away with a Platinum Award at the 42nd Annual WorldFest — Houston Independent International Film and Video Festival.  More than 4,200 entrees where submitted into the 10-day competition.

In their very first attempt at producing a safety DVD, The Fluid Power Safety Institute walked away with top honors – a Platinum Remi Award for best safety short.

Rory McLaren, FPTI founder and director, calls the video, which focuses on avoiding oil injection injuries, “an absolute must see for maintenance personnel, medical professionals, corporate safety personnel, fire fighters, etc. “

McLaren credits several contributors to the video, including Greg Windley, CEO of Handstand Productions; the staff at Intermountain Health Care’s new hospital in Murray, Utah; Mesco Equipment; radiologist Dr. Patrick Luers; and hand surgeon Dr. Daniel J. Hammon
