Grade at double your dozer’s normal speed, accuracy

If you haven’t checked out the advances in machine control technology lately, now’s the time to do so. Topcon Positioning Systems showcased its 3D-MC2 at the World of Concrete in Las Vegas, Nevada, last week and its customers’ results are worth sharing.

One bulldozer operator reported double the grading accuracy at double the speed he achieved prior to using 3D-MC2, and several other operators have experienced up to four times the productivity they once had without 3D machine control.

Hydraulic control software, inertial sensors and GNSS receivers make up the 3D-MC2 system to provide more than 100 blade position checks per second, according to Topcon.

“Topcon was the first company offering contractors the option of going stakeless at every phase of the job with 3D GPS machine control systems,” says Murray Lodge, vice president of construction, Topcon. “It’s now the first company to combine science and engineering to break through the last barrier of construction productivity – speed.”
