Get certified: ConExpo-Con/Agg education sessions to offer AEMP, NCCCO programs

Looking to get the most out of the show? Taking advantage of the education sessions is a good start, but you should consider getting some needed certifications under your belt. If you’ve brought some of your key people with you, the certification programs, sponsored by the Association of Equipment Management Professionals and the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators, could be a one-stop shop.
Tuesday, March 4; 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
The Certified Equipment Manager (CEM) designation is the only recognized standard for judging the qualifications of a manager of heavy off-road equipment or manager of municipal or government fleets. An application is required prior to being qualified to sit for the exam. The minimum requirements are 25 points earned on the application based on experience and other established criteria. The Career Equipment Fleet manager manual is available at www.aemp.org .
Areas of competency tested: The five standards of equipment management – Finance, Information, Policies, Controls and Customer Service.
Cost: Members – $380; Non-members – $545
Tuesday, March 4; 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
The Certified Equipment Support Professional (CESP) designation is a recognized standard for judging the qualifications of a supplier of equipment for private, municipal and government fleets. The CESP exam provides a high standard of certification to a professional supplier who possesses a depth of understanding of fleet management skills, and who demonstrates the ability to interact on a professional level with fleet-related professionals.
Areas of competency tested: For purposes of the CESP exam, the description of a CESP is a professional supplier from an OEM or dealer network who has demonstrated competency of the five standards described in the Career Equipment Fleet Manager manual. The manual is available at www.aemp.org .
Cost: Members – $380; Non-members $545
The National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCO) is offering the following certification exams:
Tuesday, March 4 and Friday, March 7; 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Mobile Crane Operator (Core and one specialty): $165
Additional Specialties (LBC, LBT, TSS, TLL): $10 per specialty
Tower, Overhead or Articulating Crane: $165
Digger Derrick Operator: $165
Service Truck Crane Operator: $165
Rigger (Level I and Level II): $95
Signalperson/Rigger Level I Combined (Written/practical): $250
Crane Inspector (Core, mobile specialty, tower specialty): $250 per exam
Crane Inspector (Overhead comprehensive): $350
Lift Director (Core, mobile specialty, tower specialty): $175 per exam
Tuesday-Saturday, March 4-8, one-hour time slots
Mobile Cranes (1 practical, TSS or TLL): $60
Mobile Crane (2 practicals, both TSS and TLL): $70
Service Truck Crane: $60
Articulating Boom Crane: $60
