Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx this week will take part in a few firsts in his new official role, according to a report from The Hill.

Foxx, who was sworn in as DOT chief earlier this month, this week will take his first official trips and will testify before Congress for the first time since his inauguration.

Foxx’s testimony will take place Wednesday, when he will testify before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee about improvements to the Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) program. The meeting, “Oversight Hearing on Implementation of MAP-21’s TIFIA Program Enhancements,” is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.

Foxx will travel to New Haven, Connecticut, and Minneapolis, Minnesota, today for his first official trips. In Connecticut he will discuss rail safety, and in Minnesota he will talk about rebuilding an interstate bridge that collapsed in 2007.
