Beaverton, Oregon, USA:  Allied Power Products, Inc. (APPI) recently provided an industrial supply distributor in Mountain Top, PA with one of their Columbia WG11000 AC electric winches with a custom quick-connect cable anchor.  This winch significantly reduces trailer unloading times by pulling a full load of pallets off the trailer in a single, continuous pull.

This winch was installed in the company’s receiving bay and is being used to pull pallets loaded with industrial supplies out of trailers by pulling a T-bar that is placed in the nose of the trailer before it is loaded. When the trailer door is opened for unloading, a wire rope at the rear of the trailer (connected to the T-bar) is attached to a quick-connect anchor on the winch, which then pulls the entire load of pallets out of the trailer.  A free-spool control on the winch allows the cable to be pulled off the winch quickly and returned to the trailer with the T-bar after unloading is completed.

With a TEFC electric motor and sealed planetary gear train, this winch provides up to 11,000lbs of line pull from standard shop power in a package less than 10 inches wide and 30 inches long.

By using the winch, the customer has eliminated the need for a lift truck to make multiple trips in and out of a trailer and reduced this time-consuming task to just a few minutes.
