Quad-track design enhances tractive effort
Vermeer Corporation, a leading manufacturer of underground equipment, has introduced the XTS1250 quad-track utility tractor, which joins the Vermeer family of utility installation machines equipped with the quad-track system.
The XTS1250 is equipped with four independent steel tracks. This aggressive steel quad-track system offers exceptional plowing performance in muddy, loose or hard pan soil conditions.
With relatively no breakover point, the steel quad-track system maximizes tractive effort and stability by maintaining constant four-point ground contact. Differential locks also allow the operator to provide full power to all four tracks. Other ground drive features, such as axle oscillation, front and rear and crab steering — are also functional with the steel quad-track system.
The auto-center option reduces the time spent centering the rear tracks. With a push of a button, the auto-center steering option allows operators to self-center the rear track assemblies with ease, enhancing productivity and enabling the machine to work in confined spaces.
In addition to its quad-track system, the unit features a 120 hp (89 kW) Cummins turbocharged and air-cooled engine that delivers a more aggressive torque curve. This results in a 5 hp (4 kW) power bulge that allows the XTS1250 to run at maximum horsepower in work mode. The XTS1250 is capable of pulling plow blades up to 42 inches (107 cm) deep and is equipped with a 5000 pound (2268 kg) capacity reel carrier.
All attachment controls on the XTS1250 trencher’s operator station are located within easy reach on the right side of the tractor. For added comfort, the operator’s station rotates 90 degrees allowing the operator to select unlimited positions. The attachment controls rotate with the operator, keeping them within easy reach at all times. The XTS1250 also features automotive-style steering, a servo-controlled ground-drive system and standard planetary axles.
The two-speed electronic ground drive offers a low speed for plowing and high speed for transport. When in the high speed, the ground drive motor shifts automatically to provide the optimum speed/torque based on conditions and permits maximum speed by allowing the tractor’s ground drive motor to adjust when engine load changes.
In addition, the XTS1250 exclusive forward/reverse ground-drive foot pedal with patented creep override leaves the operator’s hands free to control the many versatile tools. If the operator leaves the seat with the attachment or ground drive engaged, an operator-presence system automatically shuts down the machine.
