The Astec EarthPro DD-4045 is the latest addition to the company’s line-up of horizontal directional drills. This new model packs a powerful 40,000 lbs. (18.14 Tonnes) thrust/pullback and 4,500 ft-lbs (6,101 N-m) rotary torque. Its two-speed carriage decreases cycle time when adding and removing pipe from the spindle at 140 ft./min. (42.67 m/min.) maximum. The DD-4045 features a CumminsÒ QSB4.5 turbocharged Tier 3 Stage IIIA diesel and charge air-cooled engine that produces 156 hp (116 Kw). A Quiet-PakÒ sound reduction system is standard.
Patented ES!LOKÒ exit-side lockout system works independently from locating equipment, providing flexibility for the drilling crew. A Zap Alert System is standard equipment. Each drill comes with safety mounts and an electrical grounding switch at the drillers console for added safety.
Operators will like the multi-function color LCD display that provides a crystal clear view of the drill’s performance and functions even in bright sunlight. The display monitors the full range of systems and functions, including many that competitive machines don’t. Dual joystick control system helps to reduce operator fatigue while increasing efficiency. Cruise control is standard and also greatly reduces operator fatigue on long bores and pullback. Tethered ground drive control provides the operator with a better vantage point when loading, unloading, and positioning.
Independently adjustable, dual rear outriggers provide stability on uneven ground and slopes. Forward-mounted track drive motors provider greater traction in a wide range of soil conditions and provide reliable service.
The DD-4045 also works seamlessly with the Astec Hard Rock System air hammers. The operator can control the air hammer functions directly from the onboard color LCD.
The DD-4045 features a dual-cam style pipe loader with row selection assist. Total pipe capacity is 520 ft. (158.5 m) in removable pipe baskets.
The DD-4045, as with all Astec EarthPro C Series Horizontal Drills, comes standard with our 357 Protection Plan. This new warranty is one of the best in the industry. New machines carry a 3-year warranty on workmanship, a 5-year warranty on the engine, and a 7-year warranty on the rack at no additional cost.* The serious security of the Astec 357 Protection Plan means customers can now buy Astec with confidence.
