All-In-One IronMan™ 250 MIG Welder Offers Easy-To-Control Arc

APPLETON, Wis., Aug. 4, 2008––Hobart Welding Products has introduced the IronMan™ 250, a DC/CV, single-phase, MIG/FCAW power source.  The unit runs wire from .023 inch to .045 inch diameter and has a wire feed speed range between 90 and 750 IPM.  The IronMan 250 welds 22 gauge (.030 in.) to 1/2 inch thick (amperage range of 30 to 250 amps), making it most appropriate for the auto body repair, light fabrication and farm/ranch markets.  For optimized aluminum welding, add the Olympic 30A spool gun and module.

A key feature of the IronMan 250 is the excellent short arc MIG performance it provides, allowing an easy-to-control arc. “On my last project, I did a lot of vertical down welding,” says Pete Theis, owner of PT Welding & Driveshaft Repair Inc., La Crescent, Minn.  “On some machines, the puddle tries to beat you going down hill, but the IronMan really ran well.  I was real impressed.”

Other features of the IronMan 250 include:

  • Increased duty cycle (60 percent at 200 amps), which increases productivity through longer weld times
  • Low amperage draw (34 amps at 230V), which saves energy

  • Built-in thermal overload to protect against overheating
