The Cat 561N pipelayer is built using an elevated-sprocket design and uses a Cat 3126B engine with 132-horsepower. The pipelaying equipment has a 40,000-pound lift capacity, 18-foot boom length and 8 1/2-inch hook winch drum diameter. The 561N has a max forward speed of 5.65 mph and maximum reverse speed of 7.02 mph. They hydraulic controls have a two-section vane pump with pilot-operated control valves.
