GARNER, Iowa (March 11, 2008) Iowa Mold Tooling Co. Inc. (IMT) continues to improve the way mechanics perform their jobs in the field with the introduction of the new IMT CAS35WG (Compressed Air System 35 CFM Welder/Generator). The CAS35WG is a compact, hydraulic compressor/welder/generator designed to increase productivity and decrease vehicle weight, and the unit is a perfect complement to the IMT Dominator® mechanics truck. Combining the compressor, welder and generator into one unit provides a savings on service costs and reduces vehicle weight.
The new IMT CAS35WG features less combined weight than a separate engine-driven welder/generator plus a compressor. The hydraulic unit is composed of a 35 CFM reciprocating air compressor, a 250-amp welder and a 5,000-watt generator. The duty cycle of the welder is appropriate for service welding, but not for heavy production welding. The unit also takes up no more space than IMT rotary screw Compressed Air System units, making it more compact than a separate welder/generator and compressor. The CAS35WG™s space savings lets truck operators enjoy more payload capacity on their mechanics trucks, which helps increase their overall productivity.
IMT has always focused on full product integration for our customers, and the addition of this new all-in-one unit to a Dominator mechanics truck is designed to be a great turnkey solution for companies wanting to expand their field-service options, said Steve Fairbanks, IMT president.
The CAS35WG is also available as an aftermarket option. This is ideal for customers who want to add it to an existing mechanics truck in order to enjoy its productivity and weight-savings benefits. The CAS35WG mounts on top of the service body™s left-front side pack, which frees up truck bed space for more storage.
Mounting the unit on the front of the service body means field mechanics no longer have to maneuver the load over the welder/generator mounted on top of the left-rear side pack when performing lifts, “Fairbanks said. “This is a significant time savings.”
If IMT or one of its distributors installs the CAS35WG on a new Dominator mechanics truck with an IMT body and an IMT crane, the unit is eligible for the IMT Diamond Shield 36-month limited warranty.
