Choosing the correctly sized pump for an application is equally as important as using the right type.  One of the most important factors for consideration in making the right pump choice is the total head – a   formula which equals the suction head plus the discharge head.  Static suction head is the height from where the water (or other liquid) is drawn to the pump.  Static discharge head is the height from the pump to the final destination of the liquid.  Other factors that affect total dynamic head and discharge performance include hose diameter, length, material and sprinkler or nozzle use.  Honda offers free pump calculation software and other sizing information at www.honda-pumps.com
