Cleaire Advanced Emissions Controls says the California Air Resources Board (CARB) has verified the LongMile diesel particulate filter as Level 3+ for on-road applications. The CARB Level 3+ designation means the LongMile has successfully demonstrated diesel particulate matter (PM) emission reductions of greater than 85% while meeting the NO2 emission standard. Based on a sintered metal material, the LongMile provides the highest level of particulate matter reduction, but at about half the exhaust backpressure of a conventional filter. This low restriction design is ideally suited for diesel engines utilizing exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) technology, which can be especially sensitive to exhaust backpressure.
