EPA throws down the gauntlet

Posted By admin On December 15, 2008 @ 5:51 pm In Construction News | No Comments

They challenge you to come up with an innovative design to reduce waste, reuse materials and cut greenhouse gas emissions [1].  The goal of the EPA’s Lifecycle Building Challenge is to find new ways to divert some of the 100-million tons of building-related construction and demolition debris that goes into landfills every year. The press release says winners will be announced in the fall.

I think they’d get a better response from contractors if they threw some money in the pot. The heavy construction industry is already a huge volume recycler of concrete, asphalt and steel. If you’re interested in more information check out the Construction Materials Recycling Association [2].
