Eagle watchers causing traffic problems on Idaho 97

The Idaho State Police will be issuing citations to motorists interfering with traffic as they stop to watch migrating bald eagles along Idaho 97. The Idaho Transportation Department warned that birds gather every year along Coeur d’Alene Lake and draw hundreds of human fans to watch them. There are a limited number of parking areas and pullouts available along Idaho 97, on the eastern shore of the lake. Motorists have been stopping and blocking traffic, which has prompted the state police to step up traffic patrols and issue citations. Inattentive drivers and cars suddenly stopping have created a serious safety issue on the highway.
