The 9-liter Cummins ISL9 joins the Cummins ISB and Navistar’s N9 and N10 as an available engine option for DuraStar and WorkStar trucks. International said the ISL9 is available for order immediately.

Carl Webb, International vice president and general manager of the medium duty product line, said the ISL9 “has the highest power density of any engine in its class,” adding the workhorse would allow the company to “better meet a broader range of our customers’ needs.”

The 543 cubic inch ISL9 is rated at 380 peak horsepower at 1,900 rpm and a peak torque of 1,250 ft.-lbs. at 1,400 rpm.

During the same event, International also announced the availability of the Bendix Wingman Fusion crash avoidance system on DuraStar models.

The system bundles several advanced safety systems, such as active braking, stability control and predictive cruise, into one unit. International said it will begin taking orders for Wingman-equipped DuraStars sometime this month, with production scheduled to begin in June.
