Liebherr LTC 1050-3.1Hoping to boost the number of skilled trade workers in Georgia, Crane Industry Services, an Atlanta-bassed crane operator and rigger training company, has partnered with West Georgia Technical College in order to bring a wide set of industrial skills training courses to students.
CIS announced it will offer courses at the college, located in Waco, applicable to the construction, utilities, power generation, manufacturing, mining and refining industries.

Among the custom courses to be delivered at the school by CIS instructors are:
- Basic and Advanced Rigging
- Rigging Inspector
- Crane Operator training, certification and qualification for Mobile, Overhead, and Tower Cranes
- Crane Inspector
- Crane Site Safety Management
- Power Line Safety for Utility Workers
CIS says that additional courses are in development for the program.
Saying the partnership comes after “years of watching industries grapple with compliance issues,” CIS says the courses offer hands on, job-specific training, noting that they “develop proficiency beyond the baseline needed for certification and qualification.”
To complement training offered at the Center, the WGTC Foundation is seeking short- or long-term loans or donations of equipment for the courses. The college says cranes, aerial work platforms, rigging gear, excavators, welding equipment and other construction equipment are needed.
