Cat machine global sales rise 12 percent

Caterpillar’s global retail sales rose 12 percent in a three-month period ending in late April, Cat said on May 17.

The increase in global sales offset the 13-percent drop in Latin American sales, the second consecutive decline in these sales.

Equipment and total engine sales also increased in the April period. Cat saw a 32-percent increase in North American equipment sales, a 5-percent increase in equipment sales in the Asia-Pacific region, and a 14-percent sales increase in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Cat’s total engine sales were up 5 percent by the end of April.

The April period was the 23rd consecutive three-month period of increased sales for Cat.
