CASE UNVEILS 30 METRIC TON 1221E MODEL WHEEL LOADER

LAS VEGAS (March 11, 2008) At the 2008 CONEXPO-CON/AGG show, Case Construction Equipment announced the expansion of its E Series wheel loader line with the addition of the 1221E wheel loader. The new wheel loader features an electronically controlled Tier 3-certified engine that provides ample power to move more material per hour, a spacious cab that offers greater operator comfort and visibility, and easy maintenance for more productive hours on the job.

Ideally suited for sand and gravel, stone and aggregates, roads and bridges and site preparation applications, the Case 1221E wheel loader has an operating weight of 30 metric tons (65,600 pounds) and a standard payload capacity of 7.6 cubic yards (5.7 m3).

When you see the size and rugged design of the 1221E, you can tell this machine is a workhorse, said Dave Wolf, brand marketing manager, Case Construction Equipment. But you™ll really appreciate the power and productivity when you™re behind the wheel and on the jobsite. The Case 1221E wheel loader is powered by a fully electronic, six-cylinder Tier III-certified Cummins engine that boasts 320 net horsepower (239 kW) at maximum performance.

Spacious, quiet, comfortable cab

The large, isolation-mounted cab on the 1221E is among the quietest in the industry, with an operator sound level of 72 dBa. Maximum operator adjustments increase operator comfort, productivity and visibility. The cab environment on the 1221E can be matched to any operator™s preferences, with a tilt and telescoping steering column, infinitely adjustable seat, arm rests and control placement, Wolf said.

Floor-to-ceiling glass in the front, along with a sloped rear engine compartment, gives the operator a panoramic view, with maximum visibility both forward and to the rear. A clear, direct view to the front tires, the bucket edge and the work site provides more productive and efficient operation, Wolf said.

All the controls are at the operator™s fingertips with the standard single-lever joystick loader control with forward-neutral-reverse quick shuttle switch and transmission downshift button. A digital display records real-time data, shows diagnostic information and allows programming of operational modes.

Best-in-class maintenance and serviceability

The 1221E shares the same easy maintainability our customers have come to expect from the E Series wheel loaders, including ground-line service checks, Wolf said.

Fluid sight gauges are positioned at eye level. Three remote drains for coolant, engine and hydraulic oil provide convenient access for fast, environmentally friendly fluid changes.

An option on the 1221E, Ride Control provides improved productivity through excellent material retention while reducing shock loads on the machine and operator. Ride Control can be set for full-time mode or in auto mode, which activates when roading the wheel loader above 6 mph.

The Case 1221E also features limited-slip axles on the front and rear to automatically transfer power from the wheel that™s slipping to the wheel that™s gripping, Wolf said. No matter what type of ground condition you™re working in, the 1221E has all the traction you need to continue to work efficiently. Outboard planetary and wet-disc brakes provide machine stability because the weight is outside the frame rather than inside.

Linkage option includes high lift configuration

The 1221E comes in traditional Z-bar and XR linkage configurations. The Z-bar linkage equipped 1221E provides high production, fast cycles, optimized operating loads and great visibility to the bucket. For applications requiring more dump clearance, such as loading materials into high sided trucks, the 1221E XR has high lift throughout the complete cycle.

For increased productivity in quarry and aggregate and roads and bridges applications, you won™t find a more productive wheel loader than the 1221E, Wolf said. For site preparation and forestry, this heavy duty machine can hold up under the toughest conditions.

In addition to the 1221E and 1221E/XR, the Case E Series wheel loaders include the 521E, 521E/XR, 521E/XT, 621E, 621E/XT, 621E/XR, 721E, 721E/XR, 721E/XT, 821E, 821E/XR, 921E and 921E/XR. Case also offers a full line of compact wheel loaders.
