Scott Carnell, industry veteran and rental president for Atlas Copco in North America, has been named president of the company’s U.S. construction division.

Carnell, who has been with Atlas Copco for the last 10 years of a more than three-decade career in the industry, will replace Erik Sparby. Sparby recently accepted the role of general manager for Atlas Copco’s customer center in China.

In his new role, Carnell will oversee construction tools, portable energy and road construction equipment across North America.

“Atlas Copco has always been committed to the success of this industry, which is also something I’m passionate about,” Carnell said. “I look forward to driving that commitment and building our support network in North America even further.”

Carnell started with Atlas Copco as the business line manager for portable energy and led the market expansion of its air compressor and generator lines. The company says his deep knowledge of both the industry and the AC product lineup will “provide a seamless transition.”

Carnell will move from LaPorte, Texas, to Rock Hill South Carolina, where the company’s new 180,000-square-foot manufacturing facility is slated to open next spring.
