California Transportation Commission allocates $561 million for 125 transportation projects

The California Transportation Commission (CTC) has allocated $561 million for state and local transportation projects across the state, representing 125 total projects.

“At Caltrans (California Department of Transportation), we are working to not only preserve our investments in the state highway system, but are also investing in projects that expand the availability bike and pedestrian access throughout the state,” Caltrans Director Malcolm Dougherty said. “Allocations like those made today help us to ensure the state’s transportation system will support and benefit Californians for decades to come.”

Caltrans said the funding allocation is made up of $441.5 million from the State Highway Operation and Protection Program for 49 projects that will “maintain and preserve the investment in the state highway system and its supporting infrastructure,” and $110.9 million from “assorted transportation accounts funded by state and federal dollars.”

Alameda County:  $4,453,000 to grind and overlay Ashby Avenue (State Route 13) with rubberized asphalt, between the Ashby Avenue exit on Interstate 580 and the Ashby Avenue/State Route 24 interchange in Oakland.

Butte: $9.8 million In Chico, Rehabilitate 29.6 lane miles by grinding and overlay to extend service life and improve ride quality. Project will also construct maintenance vehicle pullouts and reconstruct guardrail.

Kern: $17.4 million to rehabilitate 45.2 lane miles of roadway on SR 58 near Bakersfield between Tehachapi Creek Bridge and Cache Creek Bridge. Improvements include removing and replacing with asphalt and rubberized asphalt and repairing failed concrete to improve ride quality.

Kern: $7.4 million to widen southbound SR 99 off-ramp to Rosedale Highway to improve operational efficiency and safety during peak hours of travel.

Kern (COG): $377,000 to the City of Ridgecrest to construct a pedestrian path and install xeriscape landscaping on College Heights Blvd, from Dolphin Avenue to Cerro Coso Community College.

Orange: $20.2 million to stabilize embankments, repair/replace bridge drainage aprons and reconstruct roadway pavement, guardrail and drainage systems at three locations on State Route 133 to rebuild and/or repair damaged roadway in Irvine.

Orange: $16.8 million to remove and replace failing Mechanically Stabilized earth walls and repair approach slab and bridge abutment to rebuild and/or repair damaged roadway on I-405 at Redhill Avenue Overcrossing in Costa Mesa.

Orange: $1.4 million to construct groundwater transmission line from Groundwater Treatment Facility at Walnut Avenue to meet current federally regulated groundwater discharge.

Orange: $752,000 for landscaping and replacement planting along seven acres with new irrigation controllers at Interstate 5/State Route 74 Interchange.

Sacramento: $1 million Near the city of Sacramento from Elverta Road to 0.7 mile north of Riego Road (also extends into Sutter County) to install 5,080 feet of double thrie-beam median barrier and place weed mat under existing barrier to improve safety and reduce the number and severity of collisions.

Santa Clara County: $3.059 million to rehabilitate the on ramp pavement and the curb ramps on Interstate 280 between Stevens Creek Boulevard and Foothill Expressway.

Tulare (TCAG): $20.8 million middle segment (Caldwell) near Visalia, from 1.2 miles south of Avenue 280 to 0.9 miles south of west Visalia overhead; widen from four to six lanes.

Yolo: $2.5 million to Place polyester overlay and methacrylate seal on 15 bridge decks to extend bridge service life in and near Woodland.

Yuba: $4.1 million to rehabilitate in and near Wheatland; Grind and overlay 5.7 lane miles of roadway with rubberized asphalt to extend pavement service life and improve ride quality.
