The California Transportation Commission (CTC) has allocated $85 million for 53 transportation projects statewide, including $5 million in federal economic stimulus funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act).
The remaining $80 million in allocations came from assorted transportation accounts funded by state and federal dollars.
California leads the nation with nearly $1.8 billion in Recovery Act funds committed to 478 highway and local street projects.
Among the projects targeted for Recovery Act funds today were a project that received $2.4 million to construct a bike path overcrossing above Highway 101 in the San Mateo County community of Belmont, and a project allocated $1.2 million to build a new bridge linking seven miles of bike and pedestrian paths on the popular Lake Siskiyou Trail.
