RDO Equipment partners with iVolve on mining equipment fleet management

RDO Equipment has joined the iVolve partner program as a national distributor for the U.S mining market providing the latter’s fleet management systems for mining equipment customers.

“iVolve is excited to work with RDO Equipment Co., extending their current product offerings to include full fleet management,” says iVolve CEO Kim Parascos. “RDO Equipment Co.’s commitment to providing the ultimate in service and care aligns with our core company values. They are a welcome addition to our partner program and we look forward to working closely with their top rate team.”

The Australia-based company is using the partnership as a means of expansion into the U.S. market. The company says its system is designed to make use of individual modules that can be used for the needs of specific mines and adjusted as needed.

Caterpillar acquires Yard Club, a contractor-to-contractor equipment rental service

Two years after investing in and providing some of its own dealer inventory to the service, Caterpillar has acquired Yard Club, a startup that facilitates contractor-to-contractor equipment rental.

A Yard Club spokesperson reached out to Equipment World to confirm the acquisition, but the deal was first reported by TechCrunch..

Caterpillar has yet to acknowledge the deal in an official capacity and terms of the purchase are not yet available. TechCrunch first received confirmation of the acquisition from Yard Club CEO Colin Evran. Evran tells TechCrunch that Yard Club’s 13 employees will remain in San Francisco.

Holt Cat donates $100,000 to SA Works for workforce development

Holt Cat’s philanthropy arm, Holt Foundation, has donated $100,000 to workforce development agency SA Works to help develop learning programs and other workforce initiatives in the San Antonio, Texas, area.

In addition to these initiatives, SA Works partners with the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation to offer summer job programs, job shadowing, secondary education programs and teacher externships in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields.

“Technical education and training is fundamental to Holt’s future success and to our society as a whole,” says Peter John Holt, Holt Cat executive vice president and general manager EVP and General Manager. “Initiatives like SA Works are taking a proactive approach to workforce development. As the San Antonio economy expands, we want to ensure that there is a skilled workforce to fill in-demand positions.”

Caterpillar awards 5-Star Certification to Cashman Equipment’s Cat Rental Store

Caterpillar has presented its 5-Star Certification Award to Cashman Equipment’s Cat Rental Store in recognition of “outstanding rental operations in heavy rentals and rental services.”

Only 27 other Caterpillar dealerships across the world have received the certification for rental services.

Cashman Equipment worked with Cat’s Global Rental Group in reviewing the dealership’s rental operations in Nevada, examining “excellence standards” affecting customer experience, such as trucking transport costs, equipment return and ready times and rental service call quality, the company reports.

Mckinney Trailer Rentals launches digital inspection system

Trailer equipment rental and lease dealer Mckinney Trailer Rentals, Pico Rivera, California, has launched a digital inspection system for outbound and inbound inspections.

The company is using Microsoft Surface tablets with 4G LTE connectivity to capture details at the time of inspection for a report that is then emailed to a customer with their notification of a transaction, the company reports.
