Bobcat has upgraded all of its 700 and 800 M-Series loaders with interim Tier 4-compliant engines, noting that compliance with Tier 4 electronic technologies has benefited these machines with faster engine RPM recovery and shorter cycle times.

Machines upgraded include Bobcat’s 700 and 800 frame-size loaders, consisting of seven M-Series laoders: the S750, S770, and S850 skid-steer loaders; the A770 all-wheel steer loader; and the T750, T770 and T870 compact track loaders.

Bobcat says they have approached interim Tier 4 compliance “by adopting a systems approach to simultaneously achieve standards compliancy and improved machine performance.” The upgraded series of loaders now range in horsepower from 75 to 174. These Tier 4 engines also add the benefit of horsepower management to be based on engine torque instead of engine RPM. Bobcat says this will minimize engine stalling and provide additional travel speed at low to mid RPMs.

The S850 and T870 frame-size loaders have been equipped with increased hydraulic pressures and breakout and lift forces for shorter digging cycles. Bobcat says the Tier 4-equipped T870 will have nearly 17 percent more lift breakout force than the Tier 3 model. Meanwhile, operating attachments like planers, wheel saws, grapples and tillers should be easier on M-Series loaders as a new hydraulic control valve allows tilting an attachment regardless of auxiliary system pressure.
