Association releases plant inspector’s guide

The RMC Research and Education Foundation has released a guide for use to qualify plant inspectors. The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association Plant Inspector’s Guide instructs inspectors on the intents and requirements of the NRMCA’s plant certification program, which ensures production facilities used to manufacture concrete are in compliance with industry standards. A licensed professional engineer conducts the inspection using a thorough checklist. “The development of this guide ensures the plant inspection and certification program is consistently performed by all engineers who administer it,” says RMC Research and Education Foundation Chairman Dominique Calabrese.

Another part of the development of the guide was a study to evaluate the accuracy of batching concrete. The study was used to establish both guidelines for inspectors and achievable requirements for industry standards.
