The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) issued a project update as work continues on the Grand Ave./Bell Road Interchange Project.

According to YourWestValley.com, the update states that Bell Road between 134th Ave. and West Point Pkwy. will remain completely closed until November 22, 2016, at which time construction on that portion of the project should be completed, barring any unforeseen factors or bad weather. Full closure will allow ADOT to reconstruct the road as an overpass over Grand Ave. Grand Ave. will also be completely closed between Dysart and Litchfield roads from 9 p.m. October 28 to 8 a.m. October 29 to paint and install pedestrian fence on the Bell Road bridge.

Ongoing project work includes the following:

  • Installation of barrier and lighting on new bridge
  • Installation of signal at 134th Ave.
  • Paving the east side of the new bridge
  • Reconstruction of eastbound Grand Ave.
  • Construction of retaining wall panels on bridge over Grand Ave.

The project, which is part of the Maricopa Association of Governments’ Regional Transportation Plan that was approved by county voters in 2004, is being funded by a county half-cent sales tax and federal highway funds.
