Anyone able to keep up with the rigors of construction work while closing in on 70 must be doing something right. And anyone able to do that and survive a two-story fall into a pit must really be doing something right.

According to a report from The Oregonian, a 67-year-old construction worker working on an upgrade to a water system near Portland was climbing a ladder when he fell off and into an open concrete pit.

He fell 25 feet before a 50-pound piece of metal fell on top of him. The man was working for Seattle-based Frank Coluccio Construction.

The paper reports the Gladstone Fire Department, assisted by the Clackamas Fire District, â€śsecured the man onto a stretcher and used a crane at the site to lift him out” of the pit.
