12 Days of Construction Gifts: Carhartt Ketchikan Jacket
| December 19, 2012 |
Carhartt’s Ketchikan Jacket has a 100-percent cotton canvas, waterproof outer shell with taped and waterproofed seams, a hood, front zipper with storm flap closure, two zippered pockets with storm flaps on the sides, two chest pockets, two interior pockets and a waffle knit lining. The cut is roomy enough that there’s plenty of space for layering multiple garments underneath, and the sleeve liner is smooth, so it doesn’t bunch up your shirt or sweater when you pull it on. Additionally, the cut is such that you get great range of motion, without any bagginess, which makes it less likely to get hung on something when you’re climbing on or off a machine. The numerous pockets are easy to get into, even when you have gloves on. The sleeves on this jacket run down past the storm cuffs to prevent the cuffs from wearing out quickly, and the end of the cuffs are cut on an angle (longer on the outside of the wrist, shorter on the thumb side), which provides extra protection for your wrists and hands when you’re reaching overhead. The jacket comes in black, canyon brown and elm. $134-$190 on Amazon, depending on size.
