7th Day of Construction Gifts: Leatherman Charge ALX is a multi-tool that can cut through a seat belt

Updated Dec 17, 2014

Leatherman Charge ALX multi-tool

Choosing just one Leatherman tool as a gift is hard—so many great ones to choose from. All said and done, the Charge ALX is one of the company’s most expensive models, but probably the best for mechanics and people working in construction. It has 18 tools including needle nose and regular pliers, a saw and two knife blades, can and bottle opener, wire cutters, crimpers and strippers, two files (one diamond coated) three bit drivers an eyeglass screwdriver, and more. You don’t get scissors but EMT and rescue personnel will appreciate the cutting hook for slicing through seat belts. The textured black exterior will improve your grip when your hands are oily or wet. If you like the smooth feel or a bit lower price you the Leatherman Wave models have many of the same features. You can pick one up for $125 at Amazon.

And don’t forget, as part of our 12 Days of Construction Gifts guide, we’re giving away a Lego Technic Volvo L350F R/C wheel loader. Just enter your information below through December 23 for a chance to win!
