With more than 900,000 square feet of exhibits, 1,739 exhibitors and 91,628 registrants, World of Concrete 2007 was the largest event in the show’s 33-year history. This year’s show promises to be even bigger and better.
The January 22-25 event in Las Vegas will feature new products, the latest technologies, 90-minute and 3-hour seminars, indoor and outdoor events and demonstrations and valuable information for industry professionals.
Known for its comprehensive how-to educational program, the 2008 WOC program offers 150+ sessions, new tracks, continuing education opportunities and a new Master Certificate program with more flexible requirements. Also new this year, the 3-hour and 90-minute seminars qualify toward the Master Certificate Program, adding even more options and flexibility for completing the 12 required hours. A new addition to the 90-minute seminars is Green Building, focusing on environmentally friendly construction. The new Greensite area of the show floor located in the South hall will feature dozens of exhibitors showcasing green build technologies along with displays, presentations and limitless information about this aspect of the construction industry.
World of Concrete 2008 will feature a two-day OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety for Concrete Construction course held Monday and Tuesday. The course satisfies the OSHA 10-hour construction safety training program requirements. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an OSHA 10-hour safety training completion card.
The Women in Concrete Luncheon and Forum will be held January 23. World of Concrete 2008 is also adding four new 90-minute seminars specially designed for women in construction: Family Business Mistakes, Powerful Language for Concrete Contractors, Women Improving Profitability and Steps to Success for Women in the Construction Industry.

Produce up to 200 cubic yards per hour with CemenTech mixers
CemenTech offers mobile and stationary volumetric concrete dispensers with material capacities ranging from 2 to 12 cubic yards. Production rates range from 15 cubic yards to 200 cubic yards per hour. CemenTech mixers can produce several concrete mix designs including pervious, self-consolidating, rapid-set, slurry, zero slump, gunite and shotcrete.

Power Curbers 5700-C offers easy handling for more production
Power Curbers’ 5700-C compact, versatile slipform-paving machine handles concrete curb-and-gutter, barrier, sidewalk and special applications. The machine is equipped with a standard swivel chute for pouring in a single traffic lane, allowing the concrete truck to be lined up in front of the machine instead of to the side. This saves time in tight-pouring situations and limits the movement of trucks in and out of the jobsite, speeding curb production. The 5700-C offers water capacity of 132 gallons and fuel capacity of 66 gallons.

Lift and land loads in hard-to-reach locations with ease
Pettibone’s new Traverse Series T10056 telehandler features a maximum capacity of 10,000 pounds and lifting height of 56 feet. The unit is projected to increase its capacity to 11,000 pounds and reach 57 feet. The unit also features 70 inches of horizontal boom travel at every lift height, which lets operators lift and land loads in hard-to-reach locations with ease.

Charles Machine Works introduces largest trencher to date
The new Ditch Witch HT220 from Charles Machine Works is its largest trencher to date. Built to dig in both rock and dirt, the HT220 is a hydrostatic trencher with 220 horsepower. Designed for installations 12 to 24 inches wide and 4 to 8 feet deep, the machine has an exclusive flywheel gearbox that delivers tremendous horsepower to the attachment on demand while protecting the hydraulic system and other components from shock. Standard trencher stabilizers isolate vibration while digging in rock to further minimize operator vibration.

Smallest Brokk demolition robot packs a punch
Weighing in at only 1,050 pounds and measuring 24 inches wide, the Brokk 50 demolition robot works well in narrow spaces. It can be transported in a standard passenger elevator or climb up and down stairways. The Brokk 50 is remote controlled and electric, increasing safety and eliminating fumes during operation. The most common tool used on the Brokk 50 is the SB52 hydraulic breaker, which was specially developed for the machine. Other optional attachments include a concrete crusher, bucket, clamshell bucket and grapple.

Concrete drills reach 18 inch depth from 4-foot patch
Drill to an 18-inch depth with Models 210B and 210B-2 on-grade concrete drills from E-Z Drill. Both models feature compact frames, allowing each to operate within a 4-foot area. The units have been specifically designed for straight-line drilling on a level subgrade, such as airport work, lane additions and large patchwork jobs. Both drills can operate within 6 inches of a corner, and are totally pneumatic with the 210B requiring 100 cfm and the 210B-2 requiring 200 cfm. The enhanced single-gang 210B can drill a 3/4-inch hole 9 inches deep in 15 seconds, and the 210B-2 provides an inexpensive option for a two-gang system.

Auger Bucket discharges 1/2 yard in 50 seconds
The Auger Bucket from Danuser mixes, transports and dispenses concrete, sand, washed gravel, asphalt and much more. Its 1/2-yard capacity is 22 bags of premixed concrete, and it has a 3/4-yard capacity with the optional hopper extension. The bucket discharges 1/2 yard of material in 50 seconds. The quick attach frame on either side allows right- or left-hand discharge. The auger bucket comes with 24-inch and 36-inch multi-linked chutes and a 7-foot hose kit.

PureForce Hydraulic Filtration Product Line introduced
Baldwin Filters’ PureForce hydraulic filtration product line includes bases, indicators and hydraulic spin-on filters featuring the L-Lock hem. The filters are available in 4-inch and 5-inch diameters and rated at 500 psi and 350 psi working pressures, respectively. This pressure capability makes these filters suitable for use in hydrostatic charge pump circuits or in other medium-pressure systems that would otherwise require more expensive canister style filters.

Millimeter GPS expands to paving industry
Topcon Positioning Systems’ Millimeter GPS precise positioning technology has been expanded into the paving industry, creating what the company calls the first 3D-GPS control system for pavers, profilers and trimmers. Topcon’s Lazer Zone technology generates a vertical accuracy to within a few millimeters as compared to the centimeter vertical accuracy of conventional RTK GPS. The Millimeter GPS can be used for setting stakes or checking grade behind the paver.

Track system improves stability on uneven terrain
The VTS-Versatile Track System from Loegering is a complete rubber track undercarriage that bolts directly to your skid steer’s standard hubs. VTS tracks provide bi-directional suspension, which adjusts independently from one side of the machine to the other. The suspension automatically applies the track undercarriages back to the ground maximizing track footprint, evenly distributing horsepower and improving machine stability on uneven terrain.

Tap into free fuel source with waste oil heaters
Fleet and equipment repair garages can tap into their source of free fuel in the used oil they generate with the waste oil heater. Burning used oil in a Lanair heater is EPA approved and reduces used oil disposal costs and liability. From heater only packages to complete installations, Lanair waste oil heaters are now available in several options.

Password-capable SCT6 protects private data
The SCT6 Construction Total Station from Sokkia is a six-second angular accuracy total station capable of measuring to prisms and reflective sheets. It has simplified menus and commands, written in terms even the occasional user can understand. It also incorporates Bluetooth wireless technology, eliminating the need to connect a cable to a wireless-enabled data logger or desktop PC. The SCT6 is water and dust resistant, and the bright yellow paint helps prevent the instrument from getting lost on the jobsite.

Alarm reaches 112 decibels in dangerous situations
Preco’s Standard PreView System with the new S.A.S. Alarm, built from the same technology as the 6000 series alarm, makes backing safety better than ever. When the vehicle is in reverse, the Self-Adjusting S.A.S. Alarm operates at 5 decibels louder than the surrounding noise. Once the PreView unit detects an object, the output of the alarm increases to the full 112 decibels, warning those near the vehicle and the operator of a dangerous situation. The in-cab display provides an audible and visual notification of an object within the danger zone of the vehicle.

Takeuchi adds zero-swing excavator to product line
The new TB138FR from Takeuchi features a patented side-to-side offset boom system combined with a zero tail swing, which allows it to slew 360 degrees, only inches beyond the excavator’s track width. A low center of gravity offers the stability and craning capabilities of conventional excavators and the added functionality of working in exceptionally confined areas. The TB138FR is available with open canopy or fully enclosed cab, and cabin units are equipped with heater, air conditioner, defroster, wiper and retractable front window with a removable lower section.

New rebar-tying tool reduces costs, lasts longer
The New RB655 rebar-tying tool from Max USA ties rebar up to nine #8 rebar. The tool ties by wrapping 16-gauge TW1525 wire around the tying area, cutting and twisting in approximately one second. The life of the twisting motor is five times longer than the previous model. A PC board now controls the rotation of the RB655 twisting motor, enabling the tool to perform better at lower temperatures. The simple operation of the RB655 reduces potential wrist damage and helps reduce medical costs.

Prime Aire pumps now work with Caterpillar engines

Concrete saw available with gas or diesel engine
Available with either a 35-horsepower Wisconsin gas engine or a 29-horsepower Deutz diesel engine, the MK-4000 concrete saw from MK Diamond Products offers removable panels for maintenance accessibility and a blade protection system that shuts down the engine when low water pressure is detected. Right or left mounting of the blade guard is simple with the quick release control and spade mounts. Stainless steel water tubes in the blade guard are less resistant to corroding and provide blade cooling at all depths. For better control during operation, the ergonomic single joystick allows one-handed control of traverse speed and cutting depth. The transmission can be disengaged from the axle to allow the saw to be pushed manually. The Minnich Auto Vibe III system controls vibrators with the touch of a button. Once set by the operator, it will increase and decrease the hydraulic flow to keep vibrators at the desired settings. SubSurface Instruments’ handheld Innspector 07 locator/detector can not only find metallic pipes and cables, but any composition of pipe, cable or practically any other underground target. Front discharge mixer now features single joystick control
Transfer truck forward and reverse travel control to a single joystick with Terex’s Total Control System, now available on its front discharge mixer. The Total Control System also controls critical mixer operations such as drum start/stop, material charge/discharge, main chute up/down and left/right, and fold/unfold of the optional hydraulic folding chutes. Once at the jobsite, the operator can switch travel control from the dashboard to the joystick, so that at all times one hand remains on the steering wheel while the other controls the joystick.

Sage Oil Vac 21120 simplifies fluid exchanges
The 21120 Lube Skid features a powerful vacuum and pressure system that can cut maintenance time by 50 percent compared to a traditional gravity drain. The 21120 Lube Skid does not use pumps for evacuation or refilling of fluids. While skid-mounted, the 21120 can be moved from truck to truck or left at a jobsite for added versatility. A rear mounted control panel centralizes all gauges, valves and controls at the back of the skid for easy access.

Protect hoses on jobsite with Reelcraft pavement breaker reel
Reelcraft Industries introduces a pavement breaker reel that helps keep hoses out of harm’s way while on the jobsite. The reels are designed to supply pavement breakers with up to 75 feet of 3/4-inch rubber air hose. An abrasion-resistant braided hose features a 3/4-inch universal air coupling for quick and easy disconnects. These reels feature a high level of corrosion resistance due to an individual component powder coating process that takes place prior to assembly.
Cut and bend rebar with one machine
The model FR-800-C by Fascut Industries will cut and bend up to and including #8 (1-inch diameter) grade 60 rebar. This self-contained hydraulic machine plugs into a standard 110-volt outlet and combines a rotary bender with a heavy-duty shear. Cut bars to length and fabricate stirrups, hooks and 3-D bends onsite or at the shop.
